Toms of Maine was founded in 1970 by Tom and Kate Chappell when they re-located in Maine, USA, and decided to embark on a healthier and more natural way of life by consuming natural and unprocessed foods. Looking to adopt a more natural way of life they could not find any natural personal care options and so decided to create and sell their own. The first natural toothpaste was born in 1975 and natural deodorant in 1976.

Aluminium Free Deodorant

Antiperspirant deodorants block the production of sweat using natural aluminium and therefore are not considered to be the healthiest way to contain sweat and body odour. In fact, because of this revelation Tom's of Maine discontinued their antiperspirants that contain aluminium and released an alternative that is still available today.

The alternative uses hops to kill the bacteria in the sweat without actually stopping the sweat gland itself. A far healthier way.
